This refreshing salad combines tender pre-cooked nopales with crisp onions, juicy tomatoes, fresh cilantro, and a splash of vinegar for a zesty finish. Topped with crumbled queso and perfect on tostadas or crackers, it's a bright, flavorful bite of tradition.
Ingredients
1 ½ lbs fresh nopalitos, chopped (prepared and cooked)
½ cup chopped red or white onion
½ cup chopped fresh cilantro
½ cup chopped Roma tomato
1 ½ tablespoons ground oregano
1 tbsp white vinegar
Crumbled cotija cheese or queso fresco (to taste)
Salt to taste
Instructions
Step 1: Combine the Ingredients
In a bowl, add the cooked nopalitos. Mix in the onion, cilantro, tomato, oregano, salt, and vinegar. Stir everything well and taste to adjust the salt if needed.
Step 2: Add the Cheese
Sprinkle crumbled cotija or queso fresco on top.
Step 3: Serve and Garnish
Serve this delicious salad on tostadas, tortilla chips, or saltine crackers. Don’t forget to top with avocado slices!
